Walter M. Kidwell, MD

Walter M. Kidwell, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Pain Institute of Nevada.  Raised in Las Vegas, he returned home in 2000 to enter private practice at the Pain Institute of Nevada following a 26 year career in the U.S. Navy. 

Dr. Kidwell is a graduate of the University of Nevada (1982) and the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences School of Medicine (1986).  He completed his Internship in Surgery at the Oakland Naval Hospital in Oakland, California, in 1987, then served two tours of duty as a Designated Naval Flight Surgeon.  In 1996, Dr. Kidwell finished his Residency in Anesthesiology at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he also completed his Fellowship in Pain Management in 1998.

Dr. Kidwell served as the Department Head of Anesthesia at the Naval Hospital in Kelflavik, Iceland after the completion of residency.  His last duty station was Director of Pain Management at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia.

Dr. Kidwell is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists in both Anesthesia and Pain Management.
