Dr. Jarrett practices what is known as
evidence based chiropractic. This means that it is based on current
scientific knowledge of chiropractic. The Pain Institute of Nevada is a
multidisciplinary clinic. We have the ability at our clinic to approach
symptoms from a conservative point of view or use more aggressive means.
Dr. Jarrett has taken extensive
classes on injuries caused by motor vehicle crashes and the treatment of
these problems. Over 300 hours devoted to this alone. He is certified by the
ICA in Chiropractic Spinal Trauma. He has also completed a certification
course by the Spine Research Institute of San Diego in the field of whiplash
and brain injury traumatology. The use of Myo-logic functional outcome
system is used by Dr. Jarrett in his treatment of patients injured in motor
vehicle crashes. As this is a good way to measure the patient progress and
outcomes. This is also an important tool in the medical/ legal arena.
Dr. Jarrett is a Certified
Chiropractic Sports Physician by the ACA. He has served as head of the
wilderness circuit with ProSports Chiropractic and worked the National
Finals Rodeo for ten years. He has also served as chiropractic physician for
football teams, golf tournaments and many other national sporting events.
Dr. Jarrett is certified in Graston
technique which is a form of treatment that reduces scar tissue and helps to
heal soft tissue injuries. With his sports injuries back ground and his
study of whiplash injuries he is versed in treating not just the spine but
also extremity problems.
Dr. Jarrett is certified in Cox’s
Distraction Decompression therapy for the spine. This type of approach to
spine allows him to treat more than the “out of place vertebra.”
1. Bulges and herniations of the
cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
2. Spondylolisthesis.
3. Stenosis of the spine.
4. Compression defects.
5. Degenerative disc disease.
6. Mechanical back pain.
7. Pelvic pain.
8. Headaches.
9. Whiplash type injuries.
10.
Subluxation/ Fixation of the spine.
This type of technique is a very gentle
and well tolerated by most patients regardless of age or physical condition. It
is also very well researched and documented in several peer reviewed journals.
Patients often state that they wish someone would “pull them apart.” This is the
basis of distraction/decompression therapy. Quite literally this is what
happens,
1. The nucleus pulposus (jelly
substance of the disc) assumes its central position within the annular
fibers (rubber band fibers of the disc) and relieves the irritation of
the spinal nerve (caused by the swelling and inflammation).
2. Increases the intervertebral
disc height (makes more room).
3. Restores the normal motion in
the vertebral joints.
4. Improves posture and movement
in the spine.
Dr. Jarrett is also well versed in field
of manipulative therapy. He has practiced chiropractic for 27 years and knows
how to adjust patients. He also adjusts extremities. He has also taken many
classes dealing with nutrition, rehabilitation and injuries on the job.
Dr. Jarrett is also certified by the
American Board of Independent Medical Examiners as a Certified Independent
Chiropractic Examiner. This allows him to do disability evaluation and has
passed the national test and is currently waiting to take the test for the state
of Nevada.
One of Dr. Jarrett favorite quotes is, “No
one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.” This is how we
practice here at the Pain Institute of Nevada.
